Swiss Farm was taken over by the Borlase family in 1946. In those days most of the land
was used for dairy cattle and a few chickens. Customers would stay on the farm in bell tents, often visiting from London and storing their belongings in the farm buildings.
In 1968, Harold William Borlase handed the business to his son Stephen who set about building up a poultry business on the farm with 25,000 chickens and bringing in pedigree beef cattle. As farming became less and less profitable, Stephen turned his attention towards tourism and put together an ambitious schedule of building work and landscaping. Nearly 30 years later, in 1997, the business was taken over by his son, Joseph, who has continued to improve the park by introducing new goals to ensure Swiss Farm provides the very best camping experience.
2009 saw the full refurbishment of our second facility block and the upgrading of our water and electric systems.
We will be re-organising the tenting fields and adding trees to provide shade.
We will be concentrating on attention to detail and adding extra chemical disposal points, recycling etc.
For the 2013 season we hope to complete our schedule of upgrades by replacing the 50 long term pitches on the centre of the park with 30 beautiful new all weather pitches, new roads and landscaping. We hope that customers will enjoy the increased space quality of this new area.

Solar: We have installed solar panels to heat the water from the showers
Water: We pump all our own water from a deep well on the park. This is then taken through a filtration plant and then an Ultra Violet machine to ensure that it passes all the necessary purity tests.
Recycling: We now have the facility to recycle plastics, paper and bottles
