FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO YOU ALLOW BBQ's?
Yes we welcome BBQ's, as long as they are used carefully and kept off the ground to avoid damaging the grass. But please note we do not allow open fires.

ARE THERE ANY HIDDEN COSTS i.e. SHOWERS?
Our showers are free; however we do charge a small fee for the use of the swimming pool.

WHY IS THE SWIMMING POOL NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF CAMPING?
We took the decision 12 years ago when the pool opened to only charge people as they used the pool as we felt it was fairer than charging non swimmers. The day charge helps towards the heating and daily cleaning costs.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FIELD 1 AND FIELD 2?
Both camping fields are for tents only (with the exception of rallies).
Field 1 is our largest field with plenty of space to spread out and play games. I has lovely views of the woods and farmland and feels very open. There are also a few electric hook-ups available in field one, that needs to be pre booked.
Field 2 is smaller and is surrounded by trees. It is further from the toilets and showers, however is popular with families as it has a play area and is nearer the swimming pool. No electric hook-ups are available in field 2.

WHY CAN I NOT TAKE MY CARAVAN IN TO THE FIELDS?
Sorry our license does not allow touring caravans, motor homes and campervans other than on the main site.

WHERE IS THE NEAREST SHOP FOR BASIC PROVISIONS?
There is a corner shop that sells most of the essentials just 5 minutes walk from the park.

DO YOU HAVE A SHOP ON SITE?
Not at present, however we are trying to get planning permission for a new reception and shop building. We do sell basic camping essentials in the reception - tent pegs, camping stoves, gas etc.

DOES THE BAR SERVE FOOD?
We do not currently serve food, however we do have a selection of take away menus for local companies that will deliver to the park.

WHY DO YOU REQUIRE 2 NIGHTS STAY OVER WEEKENDS?
Weekends are our busiest time and we are often full, especially from May - September. The majority of our customers like to stay for 2 nights and they would not be able to do so if we filled pitches with one night bookings.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO GET IN TO LONDON?
We recommend taking the train. You can park your car at Twyford station (approx. 10 minute drive) and get a direct train to Paddington (approx. 40 minutes). Alternatively you can walk to Henley station (approx. 20 minute walk). Trains go every 30 minutes from Twyford and every hour from Henley.

HOW FAR ARE YOU FROM HENLEY TOWN CENTRE?
We are only 10 minutes from the town centre on foot.

NEAREST SUPERMARKETS?
Waitrose - 10 minutes walk in town centre
Sainsbury local - 10 minutes walk
Tesco - 5 minutes by car

YOU SAY 'NO GROUPS', WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
We welcome family groups, but we tend to avoid groups of adults and certainly no stag or hen parties! This is to maintain a family friendly atmosphere.

WE LIKE TO BRING OUR DOG WITH US, WHEN IS IT POSSIBLE?
Dogs are welcome during our quieter periods: March, April, May, September and October, but not during bank holiday weekends. The main summer months are dog free for the comfort of other guests and because of our farm animals.

ELECTRIC HOOKUPS: I AM IN A TENT SO WHAT EQUIPMENT WILL I NEED?
To connect to our power points you will need a 'mains mobile power unit' (costs £40 - £80), which you will be able to use all over Europe and Britain. You can purchase these from reception if you do not have one. We also rent a few of them out for £2.50 per night (subject to availability).

DO I NEED TO BOOK IN ADVANCE?
We strongly recommend booking well in advance, especially during May - September as we fill up quickly.

YOU SAY YOU ARE FULLY BOOKED IN THE SUMMER BUT THERE SEEMS TO BE PLENTY OF SPACE?
We try to keep to a strict number of people on the park each weekend, although we can accommodate many more than this. We find this makes for a more relaxed environment and our customers say that they love the space.

DO YOU HAVE A FACILTY FOR US TO FREEZE / REFREEZE OUR ICE PACKS?
Yes we do. We have a freezer available to customers during office hours @ 20p per ice pack.

CAN WE CHARGE OUR MOBILE PHONES, IPODS ETC?
We will be happy to charge these for you for free. This can only be done during office hours.

CAN I BRING MY VAN / TRUCK TO THE PARK?
Sorry, but we would rather you didn't. Vans can quickly make a park look like a motorway service station and our customers tell us that they do not like to be placed next to work vehicles. If you have no option then we can arrange parking for a certain number however there is a charge. (See prices page)

WHAT IS THE LATEST I CAN CHECK IN?
Depending on the time of year (high/low season), the reception will close at 5 to 9pm. If you arrive after the reception is closed then it is possible to check in at the bar until 9h30. Please try to be in before 9h30 to avoid disturbing the other guests when setting up. Please note that there may be a gap of up to an hour between the closing of reception and the opening of the bar (5-6pm).

WHAT IS THE EARLIEST WE CAN CHECK IN?
2pm is the official check in time, however if the pitch is vacant by noon, then we will happily check you in. Please note that the reception may close between 1 and 2pm for lunch.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN YOU SAY YOU ARE A 'QUIET PARK'?
We would like our customers to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside without it being spoilt by radios or by an inconsiderate minority. Our noise policy is very open and is adapted according to customer feedback.

OUR NOISY POLICY AS OF 2009
No radios
Please keep TV volumes to a minimum
Noise should be kept to a minimum from 10pm
No noise after 11pm
We ask customers to remember that noise travels further on open ground, especially at night. Tents offer no sound proofing!
Because of the numbers of young families that use the park we are quite strict if we feel that people are being disturbed.

IN PRACTICE, HOW DO YOU ENFORCE YOUR RULES?
We like to take a 'common sense' approach to this policy so:
If most of the park are up later than 10pm on a warm evening then we 'take a view' and unless anyone is being disturbed we let things be.
If on the other hand everyone has turned in but on person is making a noise then we ask that person to quieten down. Although we do not like to get 'heavy' with our guests we do reserve the right to remove inconsiderate customers from the park.

This policy and its enforcement is for YOU the guest, so please give us your feedback so we can get the balance right.

See online feedback form.

CAN ANY ONE USE THE FISHING LAKE?
Our lake is open to anyone who purchases a day ticket and carries an environment agency rod licence (can be purchased from the post office). Children under 12 (accompanied by an adult) do not require a rod licence.

WHAT BAIT DO YOU RECCOMEND?
We recommend luncheon meat and / or sweet corn.

WHAT IS THE SECURITY LIKE ON THE PARK?
We operate an electronic barrier system. Swipe card are given to customers when booking in (£10 CASH deposit). These allow access between 6am and Midnight. You can leave the park at any time with vehicles under 2 metres in height.
Our height restriction barrier is closed between 10pm and 8am and restricts all vehicles over 2 metres in height.

DO YOU DO SEASONAL PITCHES?
No sorry, we stopped offering seasonal pitches in 2009. We can however offer discounted rates for longer stays.

DOES SWISS FARM SELL HOLIDAY CARAVANS?
We do not sell caravans or site customer's static caravans. We do however have our own fleet of rental mobile homes.

DO YOU STORE CARAVANS?
No sorry we no longer have the facility to store caravans. Please look at www.ukcampsite.co.uk for storage site listings.

CAN I LIVE IN MY CARAVAN?
It is not possible to live in caravans due to site licence restrictions. We will require proof of permanent address for longer bookings.
